Yoshino Yagura Kakigoya 吉野かき小屋
Slide open the door and watch as steam billows from the hotplates full of shellfish overlooking the cobalt blue Sea of Japan. Located in Suttsu, less than an hour from Ginto, off Highway 229 Yoshino Yagura Kakigoya serves freshly steamed/grilled abalone, clams, oysters and scallops by the dozen or kilo. Come early (11am-3:30pm) with a group and try and many shellfish combinations possible. Do not forget to inquire about the season specialties such as uni donburi (sea urchin over rice – June) and shirasu donburi (whitebait over rice with egg – March to January).

Guzu Guzu, located in the plaza where Highway 343 & Highway 631 meet, offers a variety of savory and sweet breakfast and lunch options for carb lovers. Not to fear, the Ginto Trail is near and after a few laps you may have room for a caramel banana Danish! Do not forget to drive by to snap a photo of the monthly opening hours which are painted on the front door.
